The ancient art of ikat dyeing and weaving was once used to symbolize wealth and prestige. The weaving process is an art which has been passed down over generations. The Ikat pattern is a very skillful one, in which the plush Pashmina yarns are dyed partially before the actual dyeing and weaving of the fabric.  The fabric hence produced, has colorful and elaborate patterns which give a blurry look, due to the extreme difficulty and hard work it takes on the part of the artisan to weave the dyed yarn so that the pattern is perfectly placed in the fabric. As you accessorize in this skillfully handmade art, you will look and feel like royalty. Pashmina cashmere is a very fine wool from the undercoat of the Changthangi goat, which is found in the higher altitudes of the Himalayas, above 4000 meters. In order to survive the harsh weather conditions during the Himalayan winters, their inner coat of hair is especially thin and warm enough to insulate them in freezing temperatures.  Their unique qualities of their inner coat is what make pashmina so desirable.  It is fine, soft and incredibly warm.

Please take note: This is a purely handmade product.  The imperfections in the weave give it character and uniqueness.  This is not a mass-produced garment but is a labor of love and by wearing it we preserve an art form.  These pieces are traditionally handwoven in villages in Kashmir, India and you are lending a living to these artisans.
